Alright, so initially I was hesitant to buy this after reading that the pump was loud - I only wanted the sound of the water of course, so I almost didn't buy it. But I was like, "Eh, what the heck, it's only 25 bucks." So I bought it, and it came in the mail today and I just set it up and filled it with water and plugged it in and the pump was super loud at first! And I was like, crap. What have I done with my 25 dollars. But then I touched it, and the noise stopped, and I realized that it was the vibration of the fountain on the hardwood tabletop that I was hearing. So I grabbed a pad of paper and put the fountain on that...and boom. No motor sound. Just the sound of trickling water. I love this thing! Make sure you put it on something that will absorb those vibrations rather than translate them to sound waves haha! i.e. put it on something softer than hardwood.
