I also own the previous version of this charger which was the Anker® 36W 4-Port USB Wall Charger, the previous charger is still up and working and I have noticed that Anker does listen to its customers. Anker improvised on this quad port charger from the suggestions made on the previous version. The improvements made on the PowerPort 4 in comparison to the old Anker 36W 4-Port Charger are the following: - built-in surge protector and temperature control (no worries about overheating and power surges!) - indicator lights to tell you when it's charging and once it's done - foldable prong which made this charger more portable and compact (no more prongs sticking out) - now a 40W charger (the previous one was 36W) - improvised PowerIQ technology that delivers fast charging to compatible devices I highly recommend this charger for people on-the-go or simply as a compact charger for somebody who owns multiple devices. I have tried using this charger at home, at work, and during my travels. It is very convenient and it is only equivalent (in weight) to carrying two of Apple's 10W power adapters but you'll be getting twice the number of ports and power. It is also perfect if you want to share a charger with family and friends. The whole charger has a superior build quality almost similar to that of Apple chargers. It is made of mostly glossy plastic material (white area) and a matte gray material surrounding the ports. The previous 36W version was all matte. The outer material does not bother me at all, it even compliments your Apple devices. This is also quite affordable for a high quality 4-port charger. It is compact, lightweight (for its size and features), and now equipped with multiple safety features. I do hope that Anker will release more color options for this charger.
