I did not buy this expecting the bass to bother the neighbors, or drive a party. I bought this sound unheard because of the size, waterproofness, and USB-C charging. I trusted in Sony to make a decent sounding personal speaker and its exactly that. Bought one salmon and one blue, when you pair these the sound is even better. In my office, kitchen, or outside by the grill these are perfect...or maybe I'm just too old to listen to my music really loud, but these work for me. Update: These are directional! At least I think I can hear a difference, I found the best sound is below the ears on a desk(right under my monitor). Turn so the strap is away from you, if you look the ports on the bottom are blocked under the strap so it makes sense sound is directed out the opposite open side? My desk is a solid top on metal legs, the top vibrates when cranked up adding to the "sound". 🙉
