I've tried many different devices like this and most of the time the just sit there doing whatever and I'm not sure if they do anything or its more of a placebo effect... (I joke, but really) So, in my case I had a wasp nest in my eves of the house only accessible by the attic. I wasn't going to climb in there with a wasp nest and I couldn't spray or fog enough to make any difference. This device makes noise on three different levels as described and I put it on the highest setting on an extension cord and tossed it in the attic as close to the area as I could. The noise wasn't very audible after closing the attic hatch and I left it there for two weeks. So far I haven't seen any wasps at all coming from that location or in the attic... job done. I now have it on the lowest setting in the basement to just keep anything away I might not see... Yes, I would recommend this.
