I am writing this in response to several other reviews where buyers found the PUR unit indicator still flashed red when the replacement filter was installed. I had the same problem and did some research on the web, and found a tip that solved it. Inside the unit, with the filter removed (and the cover off) you will see a small plastic block on the side near the “bottom” (away from the open end). On top of the block is another plastic strip that can be pried up with a fingernail. Apparently, this is supposed to pop up when you remove the old filter, and it gets pushed back down when you insert the replacement. This resets the indicator. I pulled it up manually, inserted the new filter, put it all back together, and lo and behold, the indicator flashed green. I hope this works for you, if you are reading this.
