Well, initially I was expecting only cosmetic differences between this one and Kamenstein Perfect Tear Wall Mount Paper Towel Holder, Chrome. So I ordered them both - to compare. It turns out that price difference is indeed justified! If you unscrew the main shaft you'll expose the ratcheting mechanism, which looks weaker for Chrome variant even to the naked eye, - without examination how it works.. Cheaper mechanism is inferior - it slips almost on every turn of the shaft, primarily because there's too much distance (axially) between the prongs and the chrome disc of the mounting bracket, so nothing forces the prongs to stay in line with the ratchet ring. Adding a flat plastic washer might actually save it for some time .. until the prongs break. A flat plastic washer also would not hurt the Stainless Steel variant either, but the axial distance is smaller, so it's not a "must-do".
