My roommate has the Bose Wave 1. Which honestly looks no different than this one with the exception of the touch top (but between us, I think this one sounds better). There is virtually NO set up. It plugs in, you set the clock with the remote and enjoy radio or cd's. The bass is lush and the mid-tones are clear, and we played it during a party and people kept commenting about the sound but they could find the source which was on top of the fridge. I know the cd thing will have to be addressed at some point as we move beyond the digital era but I like "burning" special songs and moods onto cd's so I can be selective (cd's were like the first digital playlists). It looks like there is an adapter you can purchase for bluetooth so you may be able to connect your phone or sound device and have access to your play lists etc, Now that would have been a cool feature to include, alas. Bose 727012-1300 Bluetooth Audio Adapter The radio signal without help from an antennae was phenomenal and I live in the country. The Bose displays the message of who the artist is and the song they are playing. I do feel that this machine has been around a long time and some design tweaks are probably in order, but for me (probably JUST me), it provides exactly what I want for a bedroom alarm clock. If you have the extra dough and need a beautiful sound machine somewhere in your house, this could be the ticket. (Bose is known for excellent customer service). Hope whatever you decide, brings you an unburdened experience.
