I wish every white woman would read this book
I wish every white woman would read this book. If you only read two books this year, read Robin D'Angelo's White Fragility and read this.
If you've ever wondered why Black women seem less than enthusiastic about the women's movement, this will tell you why. Kendall speaks of the ways in which the feminist movement has disregarded the more urgent issues Black women struggle with. Breaking the glass ceiling and getting more women CEOs is nice, but these pale in comparison to food insecurity, housing issues, gun violence, and sexual assault. The book is both well-researched and personal. It's not the most comfortable thing to read, but it's definitely one of the most important.
