Vitex Offers Hope for Those with Heavy Periods
I bought Vitex in hopes I could finally find some control over my menstrual cycle. My cycle has always been fairly consistent in that it comes anywhere between 28-30 days, and lasts about 5 days, but the first 2-3 days are always VERY heavy. I often had to miss school, work, or events for fear a bathroom would not be readily available when I needed one. Of course I couldn't constantly miss school or work two days every single month, so I would often have to suffer, rushing to the bathroom every two hours, constantly in fear I was going to bleed through my clothes. Not to mention the cramps, bloating, soar breast, etc, which made me want to crawl into bed and not leave it until the first two days were over! During my periods I wear a Diva Cup, which is the equivalence of two super plus tampons. Before taking Vitex I had to empty my Diva Cup every two hours, which often had blood clots in it. To give an even better picture, an average woman loses 30-40 ml of blood during their entire period. A Diva Cup can hold 30 ml, so I was bleeding in two hours what an average woman would bleed for her entire cycle! Anything over 80 ml is considered heavy. By my calculations I was bleeding over 400+ ml per period. I finally decided enough was enough, and started looking for natural ways to regulate my cycle, that's when I stumbled upon Vitex. I read it can take anywhere between 3-6 months before you start seeing results, and it gets better over time, but I started seeing results on my very first period ( I had been taken it for about 16 days prior)! The cramps still sucked, but every time I went to empty my cup at the 2 hour mark, instead of the cup being full, it was only half full! My bleeding was cut in half, and there were no blood clots! I only needed to empty my cup every 4 hours instead of 2!!! My second period did the opposite. My cramps were only minor, but it seemed my bleeding had increased, where I had to change my Diva Cup every 1.5 hours, but I stuck with it, cuz I heard that sometimes it gets worse before it gets better. By my 3rd period my bleeding was cut in half once again, but my cramps still really sucked. That's when I read that if you have cramps, it could be because of a lack of magnesium, so I started taking magnesium in time for my 4th period, and it seemed to help. I am now on my 5th month with Vitex (2 month with Magnesium) and can I tell you how amazing I felt on my first and second day of my period?! The first day I barely had any cramps. I vaguely felt them here and there, and then in the afternoon for about 1-2 hours, but it was nothing compared to how they usually feel. Then I felt them for about an hour the second morning, but once again they were only minor. The majority of the two days I almost forgot I was on my period. I would say my bleeding has gone down even more the 5th period. The first day I was changing my cup at the 4 hour mark, but it still wasn't even full, and on the second day I only really needed to change my cup twice. I know I may of offered too much info to some of you, but I posted my story in hopes that if there is somebody out there who's suffering like I did, that you will at least give Vitex, plus magnesium a try. There is hope!
