My 20-year-old arthritic cat absolutely loves this heating pad! In the photos, it looks a little more cushiony, but it’s actually just a flat pad with a thin fabric cover. I just put it on top of a chair cushion and then it’s perfect. My cat now chooses sleeping on this instead of her softer pillowy bed. The controls are very simple and intuitive to use. It’s nice that you can see the big green numbers on the display from a glance to see how much time is left on the automatic timer. When turning on, it defaults to a 6 hour shutoff, but can be set to any time between 1 to 12 hours. It defaults to 120 F, but can be set between 80 and 130. The removable fabric cover opens on one side, but the opening only buttons halfway. You have to fold the pad in half to remove and re-attach the cover. It’s not a big deal, but it would’ve been more convenient if the buttons went all they way down one side. The whole setup seems sturdy and well-built enough that I don’t fear my house will randomly burn down. To be on the safe side though, I only keep it on when I’m at home.
