These disposable bags are a terrific time saver over the reusable style decorating bags since there is no messy washing and drying to do when you're done. The plastic used is sturdy enough, although not as pliable as the plastic used for food storage bags. They can be used with or without tip couplers, and they can also be used with the large and extra large size decorating tips. Because a small portion of the bag is cut off for the tip or coupler, the size of the bag is reduced by that amount. The bag that starts out at 12 inches ends up being quite a bit smaller in practical use since you must cut the small end for the tip or coupler and need to allow several inches at the wide opening in order to twist the bag closed after filling it halfway with icing. It makes these 12 inch bags the right size for small amounts of frosting, enough for accents and small designs, but not enough to do a whole cake or batch of cupcakes without refilling it several times. Be sure to get the right size for the job at hand.
