Just enough fun.
I've owned all the entertainers out there, all the way back to the original Exersaucer so my review may be a lot of comparisons. I love this new Exersaucer, I'm so happy they brought back a more basic option. The first 5-6 years of Exersaucer was great, plain up to a few toys. After that exersaucers became overwhelming, noisy, overstimulating. That was one of the reasons I switched to the Jumperoo when it first came out, less toys. I also thought the jumperoos folding legs would make it more compact for travel as well but it didn't, this Exersaucer (without a bunch of tall and bulky toys like previous models) collapses as small, if not smaller. All of my kids that have had Exersaucers instead of entertainment centers, jumperoos, etc have also really enjoyed the Exersaucer (for non intended) when they started crawling. They'd climb in the bottom and rock and when they were pulling up the exersaucer was the perfect height and can be stabilized with the legs. This Exersaucer comes with 3 removable, interchangeable clip on toys (that on previous models I've even stuck in the dishwasher to clean) that could easily be left off or switched off to keep the toy even less stimulating and ever new. It also comes with a toy bar that has 3 monkeys that can be pushed back and forth like the bead maze that is loved by so many babies and toddlers alike. This is even easily removable. Plus a spinner with beads to make a soft gentle, non electronic noise. And lastly a mirror so baby can admire themselves, a huge baby activity (even if they don't realize it's them). I love the new easier to remove seat to making throwing it in the washing machine that much faster. There's even a small "tray" area. The biggest thing that draws me back to the Exersaucer is that it fits small 4 month olds on the lowest setting. The Jumperoo or any walker we've tried have been too tall and required a pillow (not recommended by the manufacturer) under their feet. The only reason I gave it 4 stars vs 5 is that I wish the mirror were bigger, it's almost useless with its small size and since babies love mirrors I feel like it is a great idea but not useful at this size. And because I feel like the 3 stabilizer legs to keep it from rocking are less stable than they used to be (I think it used to have 4 maybe?), it doesn't rock but does lean slightly as baby leans. It's fine for stable babies but if baby is just big enough to try it out their upper body control may not be good enough for that bit of tilt. We're using it for a just turning 4 month old and she's fine with it. As I read through other reviews before buying I noticed several poor reviews were that it didn't have lights or sounds so I'll disclaim that your mileage may vary based on what you are looking for. I prefer not having lights and sounds, babies can be easily overstimulated.
