Great and functional crib alternative with minor drawbacks
Between all my kids and many baby items we went through I am not easy to impress anymore, especially if there is a a high price tag on it, please. I get very annoyed with baby items that essentially add a 0 at their price tag just for being labeled baby. When this came up for the review I was happy to get it but I already had my claws out for the price tag.
Pros:
The first thing that stood out for me was the size. This pack n play is more generously sized automatically meaning the child can use it longer. My son outgrew his standard pack n play at 9months old. My daughter is now 14 months old and still enjoys pack n play thanks to this larger size.
Pros:
-2 Levels, mid or bottom. Mid level is great for newborn babies who don’t move much or roll and perfect for moms who just went through childbirth. Your back and bottom will thank you as it is extremely hard to bend all away down to pick up the baby several times a day after your body just went through childbirth. Once the baby gets older it’s easy to remove the basinet and use the bottom.
EXTRA POINTS: bottom is larger compared to standard pack n plays significantly extending life of this pack n play.
-It folds beautifully! So easy, nothing like I’ve seen before. This is really helpful for active parents who move around a lot and take their pack n play along. For those who only plan on using it stationary it might not make a big difference.
-Changing table. This table is a great feature but not as perfect as advertised “just flip it.” No. After you flip it you have to make sure the table snaps in place on both sides (it attaches to the sides of upper frame) If you are holding a baby that just had a blowout you must :
1. Flip the table first
2. Snap it in place on the front
3. Walk around and snap it in place on that side too.
Remember, you can’t lean forward because you are holding baby and have only one hand so now you must go around. You also don’t want to assume it’s secured before placing the baby in. This is something that only the BabyTrend managed properly and delivered truly “flip -on” table. Anyways, it’s a small annoyance but it’s annoyance and it could be better. It has safety straps to secure the child and there is absolutely no need to buy a separate changing table, this works perfectly.
Cons:
No diaper organizer, side pocket, wipes holder, nothing. Nada. No place to put a single wipe. BUT, they do offer generously sized diaper caddy that simply attach to the side. Sold separately at $49. However, I don’t want to haul entire caddy when traveling. A small side pocket would make a huge difference and I could put some wipes and diapers so I don’t have to fetch them from the suitcase. It kinda defeats the purpose of traveling light.
-High price tag.
Neutral:
-Bottom is wider then the top and basinet mattress is smaller then the bottom mattress; insert from the basinet will not work on the bottom part of the pack n play. In short; for those parents who want to buy additional mattress you will need two. One for basinet and another, bigger one for the bottom part of the pack n play. Although manufacturers don’t recommend this, many parents look for more cushioned mattress for their little ones. Me too ✋
-It’s a lot heavier than a standard pack n play but that’s the cost of folding mechanism and more space. No complaints here, merely observation.
So what can I say to summarize? More space than standard pack n play meaning it will last longer, easy to fold, extra premium feel... All these things are making it “better” then cheaper versions of pack n play but how practical it is? When compared to BabyTrend deluxe nursery center, even BabyTrend is not as amazing ad this one I would rather have it because of the functionality. Yes this one has more space and will last longer but first months are the hardest and that “flip” changing table meant a world to me when my baby was infant. Also ton of built in storage for traveling and in general. Unless you buy more attachments this is not truly All-in-one care station.
**Personal note. I really try my best with the baby reviews and really - really hope that my review was helpful. I wish I had this information when I was a first time mom. I hope sharing my experience will help you make the best decision for your family <3 Happy shopping and happy parenting!
