My Search for the Perfect S7 Edge Screen Protector has Finally Ended
I recently upgraded from the Galaxy S6 Edge to the Galaxy S7 Edge and after using regular dry sticky type screen protectors for my S6 Edge+Phone case with great success I thought It would be the same with the S7 Edge as well & boy was I wrong! I have gone through 4 different 'regular' screen protectors (different brands) all of them start peeling at the corners where they meet the phone case. The most any regular screen protector lasted for my S7 Edge & Spigen NeoHybrid case was two weeks.
I had almost given up using a screen protector for my S7 Edge before giving one last shot at this ArmorSuit screen protector mainly because it had a large number of positive reviews ( all other screen protectors for the S7 Edge had large chunk of negative user experiences, except this one) . And I'll say it aloud now itself. If you are looking for a Screen protector for the S7 Edge that actually sticks and lasts : THIS IS IT !
Using the ArmorSuit Screen Protector
---------------------------------------------------
- This screen protector is a wet-application type screen protector which you have to literally soak wet with the included spray solution before application. The reason to use the wet solution is to temporarily inactivate the ultra-adhesive material used in these wet type screen protectors and freely position the screen by sliding it
- In practice the wet application works out to be a little messy , but more accurate than dry screen protectors. Moreover , unlike dry screen protectors if you mess the alignment the first time you can simple peel the protector off and start over again.
- The included link to the S7 Edge specific YouTube instruction video makes makes the whole installation process very easy and simple. I highly recommend you watch the video couple of times before attempting the installation
- Because the S7 Edge is IP68 water resistant , there should be no issues of any fluid damaging your phone during the installation process
- The screen itself is ultra-glossy and thicker than regular screens with self-healing for minor nicks.
- In terms of the touch feeling and operation , it feels smooth and good to the touch.
- Its transparency is excellent with no weird 'Rainbow effects' after installation
- I've been using this screen protector for over a month now and its working great with my Spigen case without any hint of peeling at the corners . It definitely sticks to the phone like there is no tomorrow
Couple of Recommendations
------------------------------------
- The instructions mention that you need to let the main front portion of the screen stand and dry for atleast 8-10 mins BEFORE you stick the edges
- After sticking the edges, they may peel initially, just spray some more solution to get it to align and stick and use a blow dryer to dry the edges off (also recommended in the instructions)
- After everything , let the phone stand for 10 Hours/ Overnight without disturbing it to allow the solution to evaporate and the adhesive to set
The Good
-----------
- Hands down the best case friendly screen protector for the S7 Edge that actually works and lasts
- Great transparency, touch feeling and responsiveness
- 100% bubble and rainbow effect free installation
- Self heals minor scratches unlike other screen protectors which start showing them
- Great customer service, the first one I received had a small defect in the screen . They replaced it promptly for me
- It really complements the gorgeous looks of the S7 Edge with its ultra glossy finish
- The included squeegee is made of proper rubber (unlike cardboard or plastic in others) which allows you to squeeze out every last drop of liquid out of the screen easily and without any scratches
The Not So Good
--------------------
- The wet application process has a small but simple learning curve and requires a lot of patience. It takes 10 hours (overnight) before your phone is fully ready
- There are no dust stickers included in the package , I ended using scotch tape to remove fine dust particles before use
Final Thoughts
