I bought this item because my girlfriend's car needed to pass emissions in metro Atlanta, yet had the nagging "check engine" light on. Yet even after being fixed, as some of you may know, even after the light is off, you have to drive for a nebulous amount of time before it will pass emissions. This device did a great job of monitoring the status of when the car would be 'clear' to pass emissions. However, since then, I've used it to help tons of friends (and the occasional stranger) with their car issues. Far less hassle using between different cars than bluetooth or smartphone-based solutions I tried. Overall - if you want the best for your buck, this is a great choice.
