I LOVE THIS THING. I have suffered through noisy upstairs apartment neighbors for months who stomp around in shoes on an uncarpeted and creaky wooden floor and seem to find it necessary to roll, move and drop things (furniture? books? wooden clogs?) between 5.00 and 8.00 am every morning. Thanks to another kind reviewer here who actually posted a great video that included examples of the sounds this thing makes, I picked this little unit instead of one that has a wider variety of sounds. The 'Lectrofan only has fan noises and white noise, as opposed to the usual variety of seaside, rain and forest sounds that some of these high-end noise machines have, but I have found that the lower-pitched fan noises are incredibly effective at blocking out the low, thump-y and banging sort of noise generated by my considerate pals upstairs. I have to turn it on high volume to drown out the intermittent bangs, thumps and footsteps, but I have found that we can sleep through the continuous drone that it makes. The noise coming from upstairs is not completely silenced, but is somehow muted so that we aren't jolted out of sleep over and over. It feels sturdy and well-made, and is much smaller than I imagined, which is a great feature for a bedside table. Really pleased that I bought this, and absolutely thrilled that we are finally getting some relief.
