If you were to ask any of my friends, I go with a iced cold drink in my hand all the time. I put ice in it at 8am and there was about a third of the ice left in it at 8am the next morning, 24 hours! I can not say how it does with hot drinks; my wife has used it with coffee and says it isn't as great but she believes it is due to the lid. I would recommend this tumbler to anyone that likes cold drinks with ice. There are a lot of scientific reviews on here about melting temps and times and such, I'll just tell you straight out that it does work. The biggest down side and the reason it loses a star is the lid. It should be able to at least close or something? There is obvious temp loss with an opening in the top, not to mention if you're anywhere with dirt flying or bugs... Debris can get in. Definitely a design flaw I hope they fix in the future. Update: I have continued to use this now daily for the last month and I figured I'd throw an update in here since I made a modification that has improved the tumblr. I purchased a stainless steel straw to help fill the open gap in the lid a bit. It has helped quite a bit. I do a lot of construction work and always have debris flying about, since adding the straw the amount of sawdust and other debris that sneaks in the container has totally gone away. You can purchase them on Amazon at a pretty cheap price. Anyways, it worked well for me and thought it might help you out. The tumblr itself has held up tremendously though and has definitely been put through a lot of daily wear and tear. Again, I hope you found this helpful. Cheers!
