High Quality with Serious Replayability via User Submitted Levels
My first impression of the game wasn't a very good one, but playing changed my mind. Starting the game, my 10" tablet's screen rotated to portrait, and the graphic was pixelated. When the comical intro led directly to a very detailed set of instructions and a tutorial level, the app impressed me with the high quality of the graphics, the sound and music, and the considerable thought put into this game. As it turns out (pun not intended) the game is first designed for a phone rather than a large tablet. However, the graphics really are good enough for a large tablet. In fact, they're quite impressive.
The point of the game is to burn all of the rope in each level, and to burn the moving bugs on the rope, too, by rotating your device while holding it up so the screen is facing you (not flat). When the bugs burn, the fire changes color to match the color of the bugs. Since colored rope must be burned using the same color fire, and the fire burns upwards, this can create rather challenging levels. And there's a LOT of levels!
I never once felt pressured to rate, buy, or share anything. I did find, though, a really cool feature: the level of the day. These are levels that were submitted to the developer by users, and I found them quite enjoyable. Personally, I'll look forward to a level each day (until I've had my rope burning fill, that is). I'd also consider creating and uploading a level myself.
The downsides are that it is made for phones rather than tablets (which, if you have a phone you'd find this an upside) and it has network permissions. At least in this case having free daily levels from the dev is a good reason for that permission.
Is it worth $2.99? After playing and staying up WAY too late, I'd have to say yes. The game is about 4.5 stars, but seeing the quality, the time, and a lack of serious permissions and NO IAP, I'm willing to give them the extra half star on principle.
I'll be keeping this one awhile. :)
[EDIT: fixed particularly awful English; mea culpa.]
