Decent speaker. Anker does not include power plug
When considering this product, one needs to realize this is a $30 speaker. I say that, because you are essentially going to get what you pay for. If you are looking for booming, stereo sound that is going to knock your socks off, I would say look elsewhere. In fact, I would recommend the Logitech UE Boom series or any other bluetooth speaker at least 3x the price of this one. However, the Anker SoundCore mini absolutely does fulfill a niche market where a speaker like this one becomes a godsend..... If you are looking for something compact to fill, say a bedroom, with decent quality audio, this speaker fits the bill perfectly. I'll talk more about the sound quality of this speaker in a moment including a glaring omission to what is NOT included with this purchase.... I have the Amazon DOT. I needed something small to boost the audio from that device. This Anker product is perfect. It can be used with bluetooth connectivity or wired. I chose wired (and purchased a separate 3.5mm cable), because I find that bluetooth audio with the DOT can sometimes cut out. A wired connection with that device ensures that spoken responses won't be cut off by delayed bluetooth transmission. So, for those of you who own an Amazon DOT, this is the perfect speaker to accompany that device. The sound quality is decent. In fact, I'll go one step further to say it's better than one would expect from a device of this size. It does product room-filling sound. It has some bass response, but for those of you who like a lot of "boom," you are going to be disappointed. This speaker is perfect for traveling and filling a hotel room with sound for your own personal enjoyment. This is not particularly great for entertaining a large party where you really want the sound to be in the forefront. I did test the bluetooth capabilities of this speaker with my iPhone and it worked perfectly. Pairing was fast and easy. Wired connectivity also worked flawlessly. There is a micro SD slot in the back of the speaker so you can play music directly off a card. I don't quite understand the necessity for this feature as most devices you would connect to this speaker already have a storage feature. I have no need for such a feature, and I would rather that Anker had put their money elsewhere in making this a perfect bluetooth device.... ....such as providing a power adapter. This is the one thing that is sorely missing from this speaker. While it comes with a USB charging cable, there is no accompanying power adapter. I find that very "cheap" on Anker's part in not supplying. I was fortunate that I had an extra iPhone adapter lying around. I am not certain those of you reading this review have one as well. For that omission, I deducted one star from this review. In all, I would rate this speaker a 5-star product for what it is. If you purchase the SoundCore knowing its strengths and limitations, you are going to be very happy with it. It's more of a "personal" speaker than anything else.
