We've got 2 in ours even though the package says to only use one. No idea how well it's cleaning, but they are hella cute. Another plus has been that it is scratching an itch we had for getting real fish. Down side to having more than one fish is that sometimes they fight, and it makes a plastic 'clinking' sound. Thought I was going crazy a few nights, but it was only fish collisions when the humidier glugs.
