Mostly functional, with 1 quirk
I probably just didn't read the full description but there were a couple of surprises when this arrived.
I for some reason expected the rake to be metal. It's not. It is a thick plastic with wide tines. I was very skeptical about the plastic tines. I thought they'd break easily and not have the capability of 'flipping' the poo into the bucket; I thought they'd smear or worse. I've now only had this product for 2 days, so I can't speak to longevity but functionality is shockingly good. I don't scoop poo all winter, I just leave my backyard a mine field and scoop it all up in an hour or two poop-scooping marathon in the spring. Consequently my first use of this was 2 hours of scooping 4 months worth of poo. So far it has held up beautifully and the rake does better than just 'flipping' the poo into the bucket, it doesn't dig into the feces at all! This sounds gross, I know, but if you've ever used a metal rake you know what I'm talking about, when the metal tines dig into a turd and spear it like a skewer and you have to try to kick it off the rake. This does not happen with this plastic rake! Yay! The rake is a positive.
I also used plastic grocery bags fixed to the bin as recommended by the packaging for 'hygienic clean-up'. I didn't really care that this was possible when I bought it, however, after the learning curve of how to attach the bags to the bucket so they don't cave in, and 3 successfully filled bags of fecal matter in the trash, I was very excited about the ability to attach a grocery bag to the bucket. It works well for easy and clean clean-up and the bag keeps the bucket clean, so no cleaning up the clean-up tools. Another positive.
I also didn't realize the the handles are multiple pieces that need to all be screwed in to make handles as long or short as you want. I figured the bucket would screw onto the handle and the rake would be one piece but in fact each 'piece' the rake and the bucket are each in fact 4 pieces all screwed together. I thought this would be great because if you're like me and it's more comfortable to have a short handle on the bucket and a long handle on the rake, this set-up gives you that option. However, it quickly became annoying, as all pieces are plastic, 100% plastic, so after every couple of poops my handles had loosed and I kept having to stop and re-tighten them. If you clean up after your pet regularly this probably will not be a huge problem. However, it was annoying as heck during my 2 hour poop-scooping marathon.
Overall I would recommend this product so far as the bucket is large and holds lots of poo (minimizing how often it must be emptied) and a plastic bag easily attached securely, allowing mess-free cleaning. The rake is plastic with wide tines, allowing easy 'flipping' of poo into the bucket and no fecal skewering. However, the multi-piece design of the handles is annoying as they tend to loosen up and unscrew after a couple of poop scooped, requiring constant re-tightening if you're a infrequent poop scooper and thus scoop lots of poo during a single clean-up endeavor.
