I use these for spin class
There are 2 types of shimano SPD cleats. These and the SH56 (a big "M" written on them). They will both work with the Shimano SPD clip. The difference, so I am told, is that the SH56 (not this one) is an easy release - which, as I understand it, is useful if you are afraid your going to wreck and you don't want your feet stuck in the pedals. These are not the easy release and are therefore useful for things like spin class where there is (hopefully) no chance of you falling over. I have purchased and reviewed both types (see my review on the SH56 page). I have used both on a Schwinn spin cycle fine. I think that these are a little tighter (important on heavy standing hill climbs) and I would recommend them for spinning. I hope this helps. (I have no idea why bike cleats have to be so complicated)
