"these balls are huge!"
The moss balls arrived in perfect condition. My first impression was, "these balls are huge!". I am an amateur fish keeper, with a betta tank and my son has a sea monkey tank (yes, I am aware that they aren't fish, save what you're thinking for another time and get over yourself). I was expecting the nano ball to be tiny but it was about an inch and a half in diameter upon arrival. I plopped that sucker in the sea monkey tank without any casualties, I think. The other four balls are giant and the same size as the ones you find in the chain pet supply stores, for $9 a piece, and these balls aren't even at their full size! I dropped one in the betta tank (about two gallons, no, I don't keep him in a sad little friendless and toyless cup, and actually since you're wondering I picked him specifically because he was the saddest of sad out of the bettas in the store, he was sick and I paid cash money for medicine and he got better) and after my betta asserted his dominance towards the green hairy ball I was able to get it to stay all the way at the bottom under the vast pressure of a fern (live, mind you, nothing but the best for my $7 fish and his 39¢ cleaning crew) he made peace with the object. The cleaning crew (ghost shrimp... if you don't have any, get a couple, they really do an excellent job) are weirdly drawn to the green hairy ball and spent all afternoon exploring it, until finally I had to remind them to get back to work. The other three balls??? Looks like I'm gonna have to make a few more aquascapes to house them, which my husband will be absolutely thrilled about. Until then, I have them sitting in a nice, large container filled with dechlorinated water and aquatic plant fertilizer. They actually look kinda cool on their own. I might toss one in a mason jar filled with rocks and water, just to be weird and irritate my husband. In short, these moss balls are well worth the money, you get four plus a nano for $5 more than what one will cost you in the store. If you've reached this part of the review, just click buy it now and you won't be disappointed and won't have wasted your time reading the rantings of a bored housewife who treats her fish better than herself. I'm not pathetic... really I'm not.
