I love my 40-year old KitchenAid and I love my new one. However, the flat beater, with it's flimsy plastic coating is disappointing. This is a higher-end mixer and should have a flat beater from which the plastic coating doesn't crack off. Better yet, a stainless steel beater...and not the "coated" metal one they offer. I use this mixer constantly and this was also an issue with my old one. Why does KitchenAid sell such a great mixer with such a crappy flat beater? I don't know. Can anyone tell me? And why don't they offer a better replacement beater in stainless steel. It would be annoying to have to buy a stainless steel beater, when one should come with the mixer, but I would have done it. I think others might have too. Come on, KitchenAid...get with the program and supply excellent utensils with your great mixers!
