I would not want to use it for 6 foot drops, but it works well to keep scratches away. Calling it magsafe compatible is somewhat of a stretch though. Yes, if its used horizontally its compatible and does charge the phone. If you want to use it vertically, as thin as the case is, its not for magsafe use that's not horizontal unless its fully supported somehow.
