A Healing for this Medic.
Evocative, evolving and highly thought provoking. Despite being a medic there in 1968 I had never fully understood the implications of even my own involvement as it related to the big picture. It always bothered me that even though I spent countless hours sewing these guys up and being a Charge of Quarters of my own emergency room at Nha Trang that I was never truly aware of what the hell what this war was all about in the greater context. This set of DVDs provided me with just the right matrix, or map toward understanding my own story more clearly. The linear nature of the events are woven into a time-line that I was able to grasp as to how it all related to my involvement. Mostly appreciated the non-judgmental nature of those interviewed and the films consideration for alternate views of controversial subject matter. Genuine people who's sincere message carries the weight of their personal sacrifices. Ken Burns & Lynn Novick have crafted a monument dedicated to the more complete understanding of the essence of what it means to be an American. I feel better about what it all meant now. This will actually promote healing and that alone makes it valuable. Medic Mike
