This is a very durable stable. Doors latch in the middle , my 5 year can easily lock and unlock this latch. The doors are on elastics, again we haven't had problems with this system either. We have mislaid the horses that came with it, but have plenty of horses that can inhabit this stable. To answer some of the questions of what fits and what doesn't.. a picture is attached.. Breyer stablemates (1:32 (~4" long and 3" high) ) fit very well. Playmobil horses also fit well. Scheich and Papo foals fit fine (standing varieties), Safari Toob horses and ponies are very small and don't work well in this stable, Schleich horses (~5" long and 4" high) can only wedge their bodies in-- the head is too tall for this stable, The Safari horses we have will not fit in the stable at all.
