This is an OK solution that has a downside that, for my application, makes it less than optimal. Sure, it was possible to guess this would be an issue from the photos, however when you plug this in you lose one of your two outlets at the wall, and the way it's designed you can't simply plug it into the lower outlet so you can access the upper one. Another reviewer mentioned this as well, and the manufacturer responded that they were "confused" by the feedback because, while the plate covers the duplex outlet, there are three outlets at the end of the extension cord. They argued this meant you were actually gaining an outlet. Not so fast. Let me explain the problem: When I lose the second outlet at the wall, the "extra" outlets on the extension cord aren't where they're needed. I need to plug in the lamp adjacent to the wall outlet, then run the extension cord that comes with this along the wall and behind another piece of furniture for the second lamp. I want the plain look at the wall of not having a standard extension cord plug, however it defeats the whole purpose of the sleek outlet if I need to run the lamp cord along with the extension cord to the now distant plug...if the lamp cord is even long enough. Since I couldn't use if for my primary application I'm now using it as a simple flat plug extension cord...but it that application the 9' cord is far too long and, as a result, I needed to dress it in a way that hid the length. A simple solution that would add only a modest amount to the manufacturing cost would be to add a knockout that could be removed for those of us who need to access the second outlet. This might require moving the sleek socket plug from the top to the bottom position so the knockout wouldn't interfere with the wiring, but it wouldn't seriously compromise the appearance of the sleek socket and would make it far more versatile. All that aside, it's a nice product for the limited application they had in mind when they designed it.
