I know it works, because when I stopped using them the spiders came back. First day in our new apartment (a few months ago) we had 3 spiders in various rooms. I got 6 of these, of various brands, to put around the house. After that we didn't find anymore spiders. They do take an entire wall outlet, since they leave no space to plug something above it. Because I wanted to plug something else in I had the one in my bedroom unplugged on and off for a week or two. 2 days ago there was a spider in my bedroom. I've since plugged it back in and will keep it that way. CON: It takes an entire wall outlet. PRO for this model: There's a button to select the level. I have others that just cycle through on there own.
