This cushion is comfortably firm and works on couch and wooden kitchen chairs. Find myself moving it from place to place throughout the day. Have mild back pain when I stand or sit for any length of time; this cushion makes me sit up straighter, without being uncomfortable, and really seems to help with my mid-back pain. It's a bit concave, kind of cradles the lower back/hips. A similar one was recommended by a physical therapist at a seminar about osteoporosis, so decided to try one. The reason for 4 stars is I've only had it a couple of weeks, but it seems nicely made.
