Initial review: when I turn it on I notice a weird smell I can't quite place what the smell is but there's almost a sweetness to it and maybe is something like the smell of plastic. I ran it for a couple of days and the smell didn't go away, haven't used it since but will try again and hopefully the smell gets better. I will say it does look like the filter is picking up stuff from the environment at least so thats a plus I suppose, unless the dust is just blowing around and not quite entering the filter. this filter does have more dust on it than the levoit air purifier I bought so maybe it is doing something? The smell is annoying though. UPDATE: I increased this review to 5 stars because of the customer service. I didn't reach out to the seller for a replacement/refund they actually reached out to me which was a surprise. I never check my amazon messages and replied to them a bit late but they still offered to send me a replacement air purifier without having to send back the one I had. I've never experienced such great customer service and am not used to anyone actually reaching out over a 3 star review. I just got the replacement device today and turned it on and I don't smell anything weird or plasticy with this new air purifier, I think maybe there was something faulty with the other one and the smell really was my only issue which is no longer an issue. I can see that even with the faulty device that it was picking up dust from the environment/feather dander because the filter was definitely dirty so i'm glad that I can use this device and no longer have the issue of the smell.
