My boys (1 1/2 and 5 1/2 years old) received this fort for Christmas. My dad put it together single-handedly, he said it took him about 2 1/2 days working on it off and on. It went together smoothly for him. We made two modifications to the fort. We did not install the kitchen shelf to allow more room inside the fort. Also, the windows on the fort seemed unsafe to us, especially the window behind the bench seat. There is only about 6 inches of back rest and then the large open window. For kids that like to climb on things (like my boys) I could see them standing on the bench and losing balance and falling out the window, especially my 18 month old. While I am fully aware the stated age for this structure is 2-10 years old, I still think a 2 year old who stands on the bench, could fall out. As such, we put hog wire over the windows. All in all, it's a great fort and my boys love it. We are looking forward to years of fun.
