First off, I am a complete purist and snob when it comes to my old fashioned cocktails. I’m older than most of the folks that drink old fashioned’s these days. It’s been a staple cocktail in my family heritage dating back to the early 1900s. With that said, I have a very conditioned and strict palette as it relates to this cocktail. Now onto the review… I’ve been mulling over the purchase of this mixture/elixir merely for its convenience factor; because I want to make “quick and dirty“ old-fashioned drinks in my shop. In the home, my wife and I make my cocktails like it’s a ritual...We take our time and do it the old-fashioned way (yay for the unintended pun) with the myriad ingredients and techniques required. However, in my shop, (as a business owner, I can drink on the job...ha-ha!), I wanted some type of mechanism that yields one of my favorite cocktails in a very quick and efficient fashion (jeez, there’s that word again!). I will admit, I initially balked at the price, considering you get 32 servings per bottle (16 servings if you like them really sweet like the trendy kiddos out there). However, the taste and the convenience are well worth the price. In this case I don’t even consider price...I consider the value — I can whip up my favorite cocktail mere in seconds without fussing around. To me, this is well worth the price because I’m getting incredible value for my money; and what I’m gaining is valuable time. Let’s talk about flavor; this definitely reminds me of something that I would find in a trendy cocktail bar/restaurant. I’m constantly coaching the “kids” in these places on how to make a *proper* old fashioned. This mixture yields something in between trendy and traditional. It’s definitely unique, however my taste buds and palate are always pleased when using this elixir. I will be honest, in that I was very and pleasantly surprised when first using this mixture. I was terribly skeptical when I ordered it. I love being proven wrong, and I will definitely be using this product in my shop...indefinitely. If you’re looking for a convenient and tasty elixir, try this. I wasn’t disappointed, even as a old-fashioned (hah) purist.
