The Porsche of strollers....but has some cons to think about.
Long story short: I would definitely recommend this stroller as a secondary stroller.
I am comparing my Doona to my Uppababy Vista stroller and Uppababy Mesa car seat.
PROS:
-wheel width. The vista is 25.7” vs. 16.5” so obviously The Doona can squeeze into tight spaces - easy 1 handed maneuverability
- can fit nicely at a table at a restaurant without feeling bulky or in the way.
- easy to open and close
- comes with base which is easy to install (5-10 minutes)
- variety of fun colors
- easy gliding 5 point harness straps
-safety recoil bar (go to Doona website for accurate wording and description)
-easy to use breaks
- freed up trunk space since you no longer have a stroller frame in your trunk
- many accessories available (sold separately)
CONS:
-definitely heavier weighing in at 16.5 lbs + baby. Doesn’t happen often but when I do need to carry the Doona l, it’s heavy (but doable). For example up stairs of my friend who lives 2nd floor.
-parking. I need my door to be all the way open to get Doona in and out of car. I drive Mercedes GLC. If a car parks too close to me I can’t get Doona in/out.
-wheels (obviously) get dirty which in turn dirties leather seats in car and my house floors (Doona does however have seat cover and wheel cover accessories)
-$$$ expensive
-silly but another con is the warning labels are really big and in your face. I realize it’s probably the law that the labels need to be on there but Uppababy Mesa also has the warning labels but they are more discrete.
-height of the handle bar. Good for short people perhaps not so good for tall people?? Some reviews said husbands 6’2” the bar was fine and some said it wasn’t too short for their tall husbands.
I haven’t used a seatbelt to strap Doona in, I’ve only used the base. so I can’t comment on that.
Overall the Donna is like a Porsche. A nice secondary car to have in addition to your SUV.
