A big winner for backpacking!
I picked up this gem of a sleeping pad on an Amazon Lightning Deal for a great price, and I'm very glad I did. I can't believe how small this thing packs down! Other reviewers have stated that it packs down to roughly the size of a Nalgene bottle, and they are completely correct (see photo). Usually, you have to pay a good bit more for a pad this compact and lightweight. Even at it's regular pricing, this pad is a deal. For those of you more inclined to self-inflating pads than blowing up a pad until you turn blue, don't worry. Even though this is not self-inflating, it's design requires surprisingly little time and effort to blow up. Well under a minute when I did it. The Static V is also quite comfortable. Surprisingly so, actually. Just before I purchased the Static V, I purchased another sleeping pad (also on a Lightning Deal). They were around the same price. The first pad was self-inflating, much less comfortable, heavier, and packed down to the ridiculous size of a 2-person tent. I really wish the Static V had gone on sale first, and that I'd never purchased the other pad. The only con I can find is that my feet tend to be off the edge of the pad (I'm 5'10"). However, that is really quite normal when it comes to lightweight sleeping pads. Nothing unusual. Overall, the Static V has saved me a ton of space in my pack, and a decent bit of weight, too. All with no loss of comfort. I'm actually getting better sleep on it, and that makes all the difference on a backpacking trip. Do yourself a favor and buy it.
