Make sure that you have it right side (plain aluminum) up and not Apple logo side up.
I am happy with mine and ordered one for my dad. I spent an hour on the phone with him because the new one kept spitting disks back out. A useful tidbit to be aware of if you are trying to help someone with the same problem is to make sure that the superdrive is right side (plain aluminum) up and the black side with the Apple logo is on the bottom. Someone might naturally assume that the logo should be on the top.
