Powerfully Simple. Enables "Laptop Mode" for iPad Pro.
I have owned the iPad Pro since the day it came out. I have used both the Apple Smart Keyboard (the product listed here) and Logitech's CREATE Backlit Case/Keyboard (http://amzn.to/1NE57vf). I'll do a direct comparison between these two since they are the top two contenders in my opinion. ==Look and Feel== The Smart Keyboard definitely feels different. Its covered in a fabric like "coating". The fabric feels like dense felt. Each key press doesn't take much effort.. it can feel like your fingers almost bounce off the keys, or don't make a "press at all" (I'd wonder sometimes if I was just typing on the table). The Logitech keyboard feels like what you'd expect from a keyboard. I'd actually compare it to the keyboard of a Macbook Pro. The keys look and feel just like a regular laptop. The construction of the Smart Keyboard feels like cardboard. Its dense and sturdy though. The Logitech keyboard is plastic all the way, but the "case" of this keyboard is made from a semi-rough material that I have only been able to describe as "hard, textured shell" ==Pros== Smart Keyboard: Spill resistant (since its entirely coated in the fabric), light weight, easier installation. Logitech CREATE: Backlight keyboard, feels more like a traditional laptop keyboard, case protects the entire iPad, not just the screen. ==Cons== Smart Keyboard: Hard to see keys in dark lighting, keyboard takes some getting used to. Logitech CREATE: Plastic construction can seem cheap. Harder to install since it has to snap into a case, so its harder to change from "Laptop mode" to "iPad mode". Slightly heavier as it is a full case. I weighed this Case + iPad and it nearly matched the weight of a 2015 Macbook Pro 13 inch ==Similarities== Both keyboards feature a full range of iOS capable buttons (Home, Brightness, Search, Keyboard selector, Music, Sound, Lock). They both do not need to by "synced" via Bluetooth technology, both use the smart connector to power the device. Both items do not have the ability to change the angle that the iPad is "docked" in. The iPad is heavier than the cases/keyboards so picking it up by the keyboard makes it feel top heavy -- like you're balancing something on a lunch tray. ==Rating== Apple Smart Keyboard: 9/10 Logitech CREATE iPad Pro Case/Keyboard: 9/10 ==Summary (tldr)== Apple Smart Keyboard: Small lightweight accessory that truly turns the iPad Pro into its "laptop mode". Go with this if you don't need a cover that covers the whole iPad. This is lighter and is easier to add or remove from the iPad Pro. Logitech CREATE iPad Pro Case/Keyboard (http://amzn.to/1NE57vf): A more traditional case that covers the whole iPad Pro. Has a backlight which I've found is a big help in not-so-well lit areas. Adds weight to the overall package, brings the same "laptop mode" experience.
