Crock Pot SCV800-S Oval Manual Slow Cooker - a TRUE 8 quart slow cooker
PROS: Price CAPACITY: It will hold a -measured- 8 quarts which puts the liquid to the rim where the bottom of the lid rests. It will hold slightly more but the lid would then touch the liquid. Of course a good -cooking- level would be between 7 and 8 quarts. LID: The lid has a 'loop' handle, which is easier to grasp than a round knob handle. HEAT CONTROLS: Poorly made cookers cycle the heating element -completely- on/off to maintain temperature. This does a better job of maintaining an -even- heat by just lower and raising the applied heat. (see below about power) LINER: This is heavy Ceramic, not some -painted- other material. (as is a complaint about some other manufacturers) CONS: The only con I can come up with is that it doesn't have a -light- to say it is on. Remember, ALL slow cookers get HOT on the outside as does this one. Approximate power consumption: NOTE: Mine has OFF-LOW-HIGH-WARM markings on the control WARM = 105 watts * On low an high the power use -cycles- between the lower and upper numbers to maintain the temperature. LOW = 288 - 295 HIGH = 388 - 395
