Purchased as an early Christmas gift for my parents home and they love it. Depending on your area the HD Antenna can give you anywhere from 40 channels if you live in a major city but it may not work at all if you live in a very rural region. In my area we picked up 20 HD quality channels without issue, it took around 5 minutes to set up and scan. I purchased this as an experiment since I wanted to see if it could be used to replace traditional cable/satellite providers for them when used in conjunction with the Amazon Fire TV. The main drawback for them was that it did not have a DVR and this was a deciding factor for them since they use it to record the news each day and I looked online and they can be purchased for $200+ but would not be worth it. We placed this and another in our extra rooms which did not require DVR. I am a 24 year old graduate student and this package would be all I need. You can access Live TV when you want but then you can access nearly unlimited TV series through the Amazon Fire TV through Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Netflix, etc. At the time I purchased this it was $125 so only $25 more then the Fire TV itself for 20 Live Channels which is worth it in my opinion. I hope to see in future models that the HD Antenna could be hooked directly to the Amazon Fire TV and I could simply attach an external hard drive to the Fire TV itself so that I could record shows directly onto it and that the input wouldn't have to be changed to switch between the Fire TV and the HD Antenna itself. I would be very happy to pay more for these features.
