Deceitful Beauty
I called to order a Meaningful Beauty kit one morning b/c I wanted to try this skin care system out. Hey, Cindy Crawford endorses it, other celebrities were raving about how wonderful it is, and it was pretty affordable, so why not, right? WRONG!!!!!! A few minutes later I texted a friend of mine to ask her if she had ever used this product before and what she thought of it. She said that she used it years ago but that nothing really stood out in her mind about it. But she said the main thing is that it is VERY difficult to cancel an order and to be careful b/c they may start billing me monthly for this product. I was taken back b/c on the Meaningful Beauty website there are all kinds of claims that you can cancel at any time if you're not satisfied. So, I call the customer service line to make sure that my online order was just a one-time order for one kit. She explained to me that ordering online was signing me up for a club membership and that my credit card would be billed monthly. She even told me that before I submitted my order I was told about the charges by clicking on the "terms & agreement" box. Ok, first of all, NO ONE reads the entire small print of the terms and agreement. The only thing I read was that I agreed to let them charge my credit card for the payment and that's it. But to be fair, I should have read more or researched more before I made an online order. So, to recap, the infomercials tell you that you can have the system for $39.95, but what they fail to tell you is that you HAVE to be a club member to get it at that rate. And to be a club member you have to sign up for monthly kits. Very deceitful upfront, don't you think? Then, the customer service lady tells me that if I would have simply called to place my order instead of ordering online, then I could have purchased the ONE kit and not been charged monthly. (Not to mention that the price for ONE kit was now $59.00 and not $39.95) I asked if I could go ahead and cancel my order and she said that I would have to wait 24 hours to do that. (remember this is like 45 min to an hour later after ordering that I try to cancel). So, I call the next morning to cancel and after telling the lady multiple times that I wanted to cancel, she finally let me cancel the membership, but said she couldn't cancel the order for the kit. Is that why they told me to call back after 24 hours, so that the order would be fully processed and I couldn't cancel the order?!?! What a scam! Now, I can't cancel the initial order b/c they say it has already been processed and shipped (within 24 hours), but they say that it will take 4-6 weeks for me to get a refund for the returned package??? It doesn't take 4-6 weeks for them to receive a package in the mail, so why will it take them so long to refund my money??? Just be aware that if you ever order this product online you are signing yourself up for monthly charges and also they cannot ever cancel an order once it has been processed. You will have to wait months to get your money back, if you get it back at all. I don't typically write reviews, but this was worth my time if it brings attention to others about the way these people handle your money. The sad thing is, I haven't even tried the product. It may be the best thing I've ever used on my face and I may LOVE it, but b/c of the deceitfulness of the company, I don't want it anymore! They should call it "Deceitful Beauty" instead.
