The surface finish is paper. Like you get on your cupboards when you buy a cheap mobile home. I got two of them. They do look good. But how long will a paper finish last? Sauder says it's a micro paper lamination. Take away the micro and you end up with paper. I feel like I got screwed. With 600+ reviews I doubt anyone will read this review. Amazon has all kinds of reviews and questions that don't give away the dirty little secrets of this cabinet.
