3 of 4 Died Within a Year! *UPDATE with possible fix*
I am very disappointed with this product and do not recommend it. We purchased 4 of them for our exterior doors and had them professionally keyed at store where I bought them. Worked and looked great at first but after a year (after warranty) the electronics of 3 of the 4 stopped working completely.
Lights were fine, codes were fine but the electronic mechanism inside makes a very quiet click but seems unable to activate the lock mechanism. Schlage was not able to give me any ideas other than to change batteries. It is definitely not dead batteries-- all batteries tested 100% full and I replaced them with 2 sets of brand new Duracells to the same result. Nor was it harsh weather as the only one exposed outside (in a covered porch) still works fine. The broken locks were behind insulated storm door, in an enclosed porch and inside a finished/insulated garage. 3rd one died yesterday. I have wasted over $500 on faulty locks and I will be replacing all with normal key locks.

UPDATE + MY FIX: Of four locks: one is working, one was replaced and two are still broken and unable to function. As I removed the 2 broken locks I took the sealed keypad apart in hopes of finding a loose wire. This requires a Torx T-10 bit. Inside I found the same mechanical failure on both of my broken locks. A small pin on a spring had come out of its track and was obstructing the lock mechanism from moving properly. This is why it made a slight click sound but was unable to trip the lock.
I've uploaded images showing the pin and where it was supposed to be. This is a mechanical fault/defect by schlage as plastic ridge could easily keep this pin in place. Also it is inside a torx sealed compartment that users are not supposed to access. If this might be your problem-- its not the most difficult fix (20 minutes), you don't need special tools but there are a lot of parts to keep track of and its a pain fitting it all together again. I do not recommend wasting the time and it may void the warranty.
So now my locks are working again but I stand by my 1 star review. This is unacceptable that I would have to spend this much time diagnosing a design mistake. Plus how long until the pins come out again and I have to do it all over again? I hope schlage has fixed this in newer models but I have no idea.
