I bought 2. I believe they are unsafe. See photo with this review to understand why.
After buying, I noted a review saying this device sparked and caught fire. So I ordered a 3-blade screwdriver from Amazon and opened up one of the two that I had bought. Immediately I noted what is shown in the photo I posted with this review. You can see two brass rails and a thin blue wire. The rails carry the 115 volt AC power to the outlets. The wire is connected to one rail, and runs under the other, in contact with it. That wire has very thin insulation not designed for high voltage and it is in contact with a sharp edge. If the insulation frays, there will be a direct short circuit. I opened the second one and it was exactly the same. These rails wiggle when you insert or remove plugs. That wire should not be anywhere near the second rail but it was in contact in both cases.
I reported this to Amazon last week but they have not gotten back to me. Customer service would not give me a direct email to the product safety department. What should be public, a way of contacting them with a concern, is not. Needless to say, although I moved those wires, I will not be using these devices.
