AN HONEST OPINION.
At first glance it would appear you are getting a lot for the money, but don't be fooled. Out of the box one speaker did not work at all. I wanted to return the whole unit for a refund but was told I would have to pay for shipping, ($50 min). I decided to open the defective speaker and found the problem was a simple matter of plugging a wire into a circuit board. Guess break time came in the middle of construction for this one. Now the unit works but I'm sure I voided my warantee by fixing it myself. Now I'm hooked up and running but not so well. The entire unit cannot be close to any other electric device, like TV, cable box, modem, gaming system etc. Doing so causes the unit to receive serious electrical interference from those devices resulting in annoying hum, crackling and poping eminating from the Rockvilles, even when off! Yes, I said off! You see when you turn them off with the remote they really only go into standby mode. In standby they will continue to entertain you with the electrical interference unless you reach behind the unit where the master power switch is and kill power to the unit. You must restore power with this switch before the remote will work again. It appears this power switch was an easier solution than properly insulating the unit from outside interferences. The system also forgets your last volume setting each time it's turned off, including being placed in standby. No big deal except when turned on it defaults to a volume level of 18 out of 30 which is loud enough to wake everyone in the house should you turn it on during those hours. And you can't catch it before the baby is already screaming. Finally, if your still reading, is the matter of the Bluetooth tone. Every Bluetooth device I own produces some tone/melody/something when activated. The Rockville is no exception except that the Rockville is preset at a very high volume. So if you missed waking anyone with the power on volume, you'll have a second chance when you enter Bluetooth mode. Either everyone at Rockville has a hearing problem or they work in an extremely noisy facility. In summary if all these issues were rectified it would be a decent unit for the money. I don't have the energy or desire to try to get Rockville to remediate my situation. Based on the opinions of others they are probably not capable or are lacking the desire to fix all these things anyway, thus a lot of time and money would be wasted making an aggravating situation even worse. For these reasons I feel this was a relatively cheaply made unit whose life expectancy is highly suspect. It is a risk at best when purchasing such a device hearing unheard in the first place. Hopefully this saves someone from duplicating my mistake.
