At first I was loving my new Ecobee Thermostat...but now I have realized that they are forcing me into using a "feature" called eco+ and thereby hijacking control of my thermostat settings!!! You are unable to use the iOS app unless you agree to use eco+ . It's supposed to allow them to make changes to temperature, etc based on electrical grid load. Sounds like their in bed with some power companies to me? Lots of users are online complaining about this. Ecobee claims that you can turn this feature off, after you've agreed to turn it on! That's just too heavy handed for my taste. I would be fine with them recommending eco+ but I'm not fine with them forcing it on me. If they change their policy on this then I would be happy to raise my review to 5 stars because the thermostat itself is excellent but until they do I feel I must recommend against purchasing one.
