I correctly installed it and got it working for my PS4, then about 45 days later (after return policy) my PS4 got all these error notifications about not being able to install updates on the external hard drive. When I looked into it, my PS4 just could not even read the external hard drive. I tried every troubleshooting technique on the internet to no avail. Eventually when I tried to return it Amazon refused and it took about 8 calls to amazon to just get my money back. Save yourself the trouble and do not purchase this piece of crap.
