Who Cares?
Like so many people, I was eager to begin "Freedom" and was, initially, engrossed. But as the hour mounted I began to realize that these were, fundamentally, uninteresting people. People I didn't care to know, people whose lives do not provide particular insight, people who made many bad choices. I kept hoping that the story would evolve in a way that I would understand and value the "point." Never happened. Another dysfunctional family, another weaving of (almost) every cultural wrinkle into the context...very dispiriting.
