★★☆☆☆
Died after 2 months active use. Not worth it.
****Update 4/30/2015*** Total Failure As awesome as the device was initially, the built quality was not meant for long term use. After constant use, outdoors, indoors, working out, sleeping... basically 24/7 use excluding charge time, the unity basically fell apart. First battery started to dwindle to a few days then finally to a day, charging panel basically broke off due to magnets, good idea but poorly executed. The only thing separating the elements/sweat from the charger is couple mm plastic and a free floating metal that provide the magnetic connection. With my active life style, that plastic separation was prone to breaking. If they ever make a v2 they are going to need to bump up the quality of the product. 1. More scratch resistant screen. 2. Reinforced charger or just go good o' micro usb I will provide some images when I get home from work. I actually bought two of these so I am a little disappointed. that's $100+ down the drain. Initial Review I'm training for Tough Mudder so I got this to couple with the Heart Rate Monitor. Though I have yet to figure how to actually pair the two the units, alone it is very straight forward to use. I'll break down the review as much as possible to answer any questions. Packaging It comes with 3 silicone wristbands, a magnetic charger, one two prong plastic to hold the band together, the unit itself, and a user manual that can also be found in the the I-gotu life app. Unit - Navigating : Pretty straight forward unit, one button to toggle through screens (time, steps, calories burned, etc), uv strength detector (pretty cool) and 4 preset alarm (done through app) - Activity Modes : There are 4 modes that the manual doesn't even mention but if you hold the button, 4 icons will pop-up. Daily (Normal day to day activity), Sleep (To measure your sleep quality), sports (unsure yet but I think this is how it gets synced with the HRM), Nap (Set the nap duration through the app). - Vibration notification : It notifies you of text from social app, incoming calls, your preset alarms, if your app disconnects from the phone (pretty nice feature if you accidentally walk off without your phone), or if the UV strength gets to strong. All this can be toggle on and off in the app. - Battery : 16+ days of battery, more than the 7 days noted in specs (Refer to 1/13 - 1/20 review update) - Charger : it's magnetic and if you lose it you are sol. It works but it can get loose from time to time. - Scuff/Scratch Magnet: Read 1/5/15 Review App (iOS) - I-GotU Life - Very easy to sync. Each step to syncing is shown on screen and after it's synced, you are set. - Unit of measurement : this is the ultimate plus! I got two budget fit bands for gifts for $35, Oumax to be exact, you can read my review on that one, and they only measured in metric (confirmed with CS). If your selling to the American consumer, I think there should be a choice for imperial and this has both! At first you have to input in metric but when you get through the whole setup, you can toggle to imperial via the app. Awesome... - Has daily tips for better living and overall easy to navigate. Overall: When I purchased this, there were no reviews. So I bought this because they have an actual website, it was affordable, their HRM had pretty good reviews on the product and the customer service and they also have a nice lineup of other gears. I am glad I made the decision, if you are planning to get a budget one, start with this cus it measures in Imperial! (Lbs, Ft, Miles, etc) I will be back in a month or if it explodes for an update review:) ***Update: 1/5/2015*** Worn it for the pass few days, the screen is a scuff/scratch magnet! For something that is suppose to be worn "24/7" and for the active consumer, this probably won't look too shiny after a month of normal use and probably in certain conditions, hard to read after a year of active use. All I did was set my wrist on a table during a meeting and there were lots of noticeable fine scratches. I was able to buff most of it out with rubbing compound (The stuff to buff out fine/medium scratches from a car) but it's noticeable still, especially when light reflects off the surface. It would be nice if the LCD portion was made of glass. I wouldn't have mind much if everything else gets scuffed, since again, it's for the active user. That is my only gripe so far but at this price range, I am assuming it's a common quality issue but that doesn't warrant an excuse. I will resolve this by cutting myself scratch resistant screen protector for the screen and hope it will mask the scratches. I will upload an image when I figure out how to post the image. ****Update 1/13/2015*** Battery Life *** Its about 9 days since I last fully charged it, its @ 2/4 bars. Probably will last another day or 2. ****Update 1/17/2015*** Battery Life *** 13 days later and the band is still ticking after one full charge. Battery indicator still shows 2/4 bars. ****Update 1/20/2015*** Final Battery Life Update *** So it finally reached 1/4 bars. I fully charged it on 1/4/2015 and today is 1/20/2015. My daily use consist of constant text/call notifications, 2 alarms a day, occasional snooze alarms (5 min intervals about 2-3x in the morning cus I like to sleep in a little before work=P), frequent automatic syncing of the phone, checking of time occasionally and switching from mode to mode through the day. I have no worries that this watch can last me a few more days but I think 16 days is way more than the expected 7 days. I will charge it tonight.
