UNDERNEATH TYPE-A PORT IS A MICROSD. THIS PRODUCT RUNS OFF OF A MICROSD. FALSE ADVERTISING (SEE PIC)
At first, I was very pleased to find a nice dual drive like this that is compatible with my Nexus 6P and my USB Type-C port on my PCs at home and work. However, to my findings, I read another review on a similar product from SanDisk. On that review, the user mentioned that theirs failed, so they decided to pry it open to find a MicroSD card inside it.
I decided to take a look at the Type-A usb port, and I see the casing underneath the pins which indicates that this product also has a MicroSD underneath. Very likely the MicroSD is the SanDisk Extreme U3 model.
The MicroSD card is pretty decent, it's priced about $15, but the fact that they use this cheap solution to create this product saddens me. I would very much pay a premium price for a non-MicroSD card USB.
Since the difference of the MicroSD and this product is only about $3, you won't be losing out on much. However, my impression for SanDisk isn't as great as before. The device works fine, but it does get pretty hot on the Type-C. You're better off buying a MicroSD converter dual drive because this is essentially what it is.
