I have been using a Kindle 2 for years. This kindle was on sale for an extremely low price so I decided to buy it. I'm glad I did. I didn't want a light behind the text because I read this at night, as these back lights can sometimes leave you wide-awake. About the same screen size as my older Kindle. It's so light weight as it's plastic and subsequently travels well. No issues with the TSA when flying . It's so perfect for my needs! However, I can “turn off the screen , but not turn off the unit “. Subsequently, when I want to read on this kindle, the battery is drained! It needs charging before I can read it ! Deleted stars As I can’t ever read from this because every time I pick it up it needs recharging it is totally died! This is because it doesn’t totally turn off
